Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Morning/Afternoon: Arrive in Arusha. Meet your guide, who is an expert in Tanzanian avifauna, and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner and an orientation session covering the exciting days ahead.
Evening: Rest and prepare for the birdwatching adventure.
Day 2: Arusha National Park
After breakfast, depart for a full day of birdwatching in Arusha National Park. The park’s varied ecosystems are home to over 400 bird species, including the Narina trogon and bar-tailed trogon.
Afternoon: Picnic lunch in the park, followed by an afternoon focusing on the park’s waterbirds near the Momella lakes.
Evening: Return to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park
Early departure to Tarangire National Park, known for its baobab trees and diverse birdlife, including the yellow-collared lovebird and the bateleur eagle.
Afternoon: Continue birdwatching after lunch, focusing on the park’s riverine and savannah habitats.
Evening: Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp in or near the park.
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park
Depart to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and incredible birding opportunities, including flamingos and the Manyara green pigeon.
Afternoon: After lunch, explore different parts of the park, emphasizing forest and lakeside bird species.
Evening: Transfer to a lodge near Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 & 6: Serengeti National Park
Two full days in the Serengeti dedicated to birdwatching across its vast plains and near water sources. Look out for the Kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird, and the secretary bird, among others. The Serengeti is also home to raptors and a variety of vultures.
Evening: Spend evenings at a Serengeti camp or lodge, discussing the day’s sightings and enjoying the sounds of the wild.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a day of birdwatching in this natural amphitheater. The crater floor offers a chance to see highland endemics and species such as the endangered Kirtland’s warbler.

Day 8: Empakaai Crater

Day 9: Return to Arusha

Afternoon: Arrive in Arusha for a farewell lunch and last-minute shopping for souvenirs. Transfer to the airport or your hotel, marking the end of the safari.
